Imphal, August 25 2016:
Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) has called for collective efforts from every ethnic community of the State to safeguard the integrity and move forward towards a common goal.
Addressing media persons today at their office located at Keishampat, IPAK chairman Sapamcha Jadumani said, the ongoing people's movement for the introduction of a mechanism to stop illegal influx of non-locals needs to be reviewed.
Objection from certain sections regarding the implementation of a Bill or an Act to safeguard the native people has raised questions on the integrity of the State.

The issue which could create a divide between different ethnic communities should be resolved first and foremost, he maintained.
The mode of movement for introduction of a mechanism to save the indigenous people of Manipur should be made crystal clear by the CSOs leading the movement.
He further highlighted that certain Assembly Constituencies in Imphal valley depend on the vote banks of non-locals which in the long run could turn catastrophic for the natives of Manipur.
Like for instance, about 60 percent of voters in Jiribam are non-locals while only 40 percent of the total voters are native of the place.
Such demographic imbalance has led to the mass movement of the people to protect the indigenous populace, he added.
He also alleged that certain policy of the Government of India has made North Eastern States a a popular destination for influx of illegal migrants from neighbouring countries.
Such actions have led to hybridization of certain ethnic and native communities in the north east, Jadumani said.
He opined that the demand of the people should be the re-inforcement of the previously imposed Inner Line Permit System which was removed in 1950 while addeding that any form of law or act to save the native people should be well accepted by all ethnic communities of Manipur.
Advisor of IPAK Thoudam Manihar has also urged all the ethnic communities of Manipur to work together.
