Free eye check-up camp organised

Imphal, July 17 2022: A one day free eye check-up camp was held at Ima Panthoibi Shanglen at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai today.

The free eye check-up camp was jointly organised by Thangmeiband Kendra Development Organisation (TAKDO) and Thangmeiband Youth Social Reformation and Development Committee (TYSRDC) under the aegis of National Programme for Control of Blindness and Visual Impairment (NPCB & VI), National Health Mission.

Speaking at the inaugural function, MLA of Thangmeiband AC, Khumukcham Joykisan asserted that eyes are one of the most important assets of humans.

He also lauded the initiative of TAKDO and TYSRDC for organising the free eye check-up camp to provide an opportunity to those who cannot afford to go to hospitals or ophthalmologist.

Speaking at the occasion, president of TYSRDC, Sinam Sarat Meitei said that facilities such as free eye-screening, providing free medicines and glasses will be provided during the camp.

If cataract cases are found, free surgeries will be conducted under NPCB & VI, he added.

Around 100 persons were examined during the camp and around seven cataract cases were found.
