Mega health camp held, humanitarian aid extended

Imphal, December 18 2023: Former students of Dhanamanjuri College of Science (1996-1999 Batch) continue to extend humanitarian aid to the internally displaced people (IDP) who are staying at various relief camps across the State in a bid to provide some relief and alleviate their problems caused by the prevailing tense situation.

Today, Alumni DM College of Science (XII 1996-TDC 1999 Batch) organised a "Mega Health Camp, Eye Check-up and Distribution of spectacles & relief materials" at Kumbi Awang High School.

Apart from providing free health examination/ consultation to the IDP staying at the relief camp set up in the school, winter clothes & shoes were distributed to the displaced children and monetary aid along with clothes were handed over to the elderly staying there.

Till date, the Alumni have extended financial aid and relief materials worth more than Rs 5.50 Lakh to the IDP taking shelter at relief camps set up at different places.

The humanitarian activities were carried out with the funds contributed by more than 200 former students of the college.

Besides, in a proactive endeavour to enhance community health and well-being, Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Sagolband under the supervision of Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo Singh organised a Special Health Camp at Paona Keithel, Ward No 24 on December 17, 2023 .

The health camp was conducted in line with the Nationwide Ayushman Bharat campaign aimed at delivering comprehensive healthcare services to the local community, emphasizing preventive measures and early detection of various health conditions, said a release issued by the office of the MLA Sagolband AC.

Around 120 individuals were examined for various health care concerns during the camp by the doctors and staff of UPHC Sagolband.

The medical team also provided various services including free screening of high blood pressure (BP) & diabetes, lab tests, malaria & dengue tests, HIV & hepatitis screening, cervical cancer screening and ABHA ID generation.

Free medicines were distributed during the health camp.

At the event, RK Imo Singh extended his appreciation to the Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in the Sagolband constituency and distributed Rs 3000 each to the ASHAs as a token of gratitude for their tireless efforts in community health.

"We are delighted to see the overwhelming response from the community, and it is heartening to witness the positive impact of such health initiatives.

The ASHAs play a crucial role in ensuring healthcare reaches every doorstep, and their hard work deserves recognition and support," he said.

Continuing the benevolent act, the MLA also provided relief materials including vegetables, water jars, edible oil, and other daily necessities at the relief camp set up in THAU Ground, Thangmeiband.

This initiative was carried out through the Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC) .

Meanwhile, a team led by One India Foundation, New Delhi general secretary Meitram Sanatomba under the guidance of Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Prof Rakesh Sinha on Monday distributed relief materials including shoes, potatoes & food items at the relief camp set up in Leimaram SC Girls Hostel, Bishnupur district.

To help the people affected by the present conflict, One India Foundation had earlier visited relief camps opened in Thanga, Phayeng, Manipur College, Charhajare and Sendra Block A, said a release issued by One India Foundation.

One India Foundation in collaboration with local clubs and Meira Paibis will also be organising a Mega Health Camp at Leimaram in the last week of December 2023 .
