Material and financial relief efforts continue

The Department of Teacher Education, Manipur University, has distributed aid items to the inmates at Kha Manipur College, Kakching relief camp.
The relief extension effort was undertaken as a part of the department's annual "Community Contact Programme" .
The distributed items include essential commodities, sanitary products, stationery items for students, school bags, toys and board games such as ludo, chess, football etc.
Programme Convenor Dr K Sobita Devi shared that the initiative was taken in recognition of the duty of teachers at the community level.
As part of the B Ed curriculum, teachers should take part in societal level activities which will foster a better relationship between the community and the teachers.
Teacher trainees, under four houses, launched a poster campaign on various topics with the set goal of providing psychological support and awareness to the inmates.
Further, they also interacted with the relief camp inmates.
Separately, volunteers of Peace and Relief Committee, Wangjing Tentha AC distributed consumable items to the inmates at Wangjing Kodompokpi Sports Complex under the supervision of Wangjing Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen.
The MLA's wife Paonam Shyama also distributed snacks and other food items to the children of the camp.
Meanwhile, the Peace and Integrity Haokha Mamang Leikai Thoubal distributed essential commodities to the village volunteers of Kadangband Part II under Bishnupur district today.
Meanwhile, members of the 1984 IAS Passed Out Batch distributed food items, clothing for women and children, stationery items for students etc to the roughly 150 inmates at Thangjing Sindam Sang Relief Camp today.
Speaking by the sideline of the relief effort, O Nabakishore, retd IAS Officer asserted that the incessant violence raging in the State poses a huge threat to national security.
Expressing worry over the deteriorating state of Indian security situation, he urged the State and Central Government to not remain silent.
It may be noted that today's initiative marks the fourth relief effort undertaken by the 1984 IAS Passed Out Batch.
Lastly, the Fourteen has extended financial aid to the tune of Rs 15,000 to the family of Late Nandeibam Rojen who lost his life on May 28 while defending Leitanpokpi village from the attack of Kuki militants.
Also known as Naoba Meitei, he was the son of N Chingthangkhomba Meitei from Yumnam Patlou Mamang Leikai in Imphal East.
