Imphal, September 03 2023:
Since May 3, 2023, Laishram Rohini aged 83, S Mohendro aged 65, Memcha Soibam, aged 75, and other displaced people from Saduyengkhuman and other places of Saikul AC have been running for their lives after their houses and properties were burnt down and destroyed by Khongjais (Kukis) and they have been living at various relief camps.
Firstly, they took refuge at Naorem Birahari College.
And later on, some of them were sent to the Khuman Lampak relief camp.
Their hearts, minds, and souls are filled with fear, anxiety, and restlessness, and day by day they are losing hope.
The only wish they have is to go back to their original homes.
Memcha Soibam, aged 75, expressed her grievances about not being able to live with her grandchildren together any more like before.
One Ibohal expressed that they want to go back to their original places.
They are worried for their old people and children; the children are losing hope, and the children aren't getting proper classes; the middle-aged aren't able to work, and thus they are requesting that the Central and State Governments to give them back their homes.
"In relief camps, we feel like we are living in jail.
We want to go back home, start working, and have normal lives with our families", they added.
