'Black September' protests carried out

Calling the ethnic conflict, which erupted on May 3, as a challenge to the lives of Meetei people and peace in the state, the Black September' protest called by Phambei from September 3 to 21 was carried out in various parts of the valley on Sunday.
At Kangla, Uripok, Thangmeiband, Konung Mamang, etc., the protest was marked by hoisting of black flags and paying of floral tributes to photos of those who lost their lives in the on going conflict .
Similarly, Youth's Progressive Club (YPC), Ishok Makha and local meira paibi group Chengei Phougei Lup observed 'Black September' at club's premises by hoisting a black flag and offering floral tributes to the 'martyrs' who sacrificed to uphold Manipur's integrity and protect Meetei villages and people from the Kuki narco-terrorists.
Speaking to media persons, Chengei Phougei Lup secretary Huidrom Dhanapati informed that the observance was held in support of the call given by Phambei.
She also appealed to the state and Union governments to wake up from their slumber as Manipur is on the brink of breaking apart due to the present conflict, while urging them to stop the violence from further escalation.
Khangabok Joint Co-ordinating Committee, a joint body of meira paibi groups and clubs of Khangabok also hoisted black flag and paid floral tributes to the martyrs at Khangabok on Sunday.
Subsequent to the declaration of Black September' by Phambei against the attacks on Meitei villages by Kuki militants and their clarion call for mass protest, Salungpham Apunba Meira Paibi Lup paid floral tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed for Manipur and also staged sit in protest at Salungpham Mamang Leikai Panthoibi Bazar on Sunday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, Lup president Thingbaijam Nganbiton declared that they will never accept the statements of chief minister aimed at befooling the people and diverting the issue on having many organisations.
He is the chief minister of the state and ending the conflict lies in his hand, she continued, while adding that political chapter of N Biren is close because of the conflict.
