The Official Language Cell, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal organised the first quarterly Hindi lecture cum workshop, "Official Language Implementation in North East" at Banting Hall, RIMS, Imphal today.
It was attended by RIMS Imphal, Director, Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma; RIMS Hospital, Medical Superintendent, Prof N Sanjib Singh; Dhanamanjuri University, Dean, Prof S Lanchenba Meitei and Manipuri University, Department of Hindi, Head, Prof Akhilesh Kumar Shankhdhar as presidium members, said a release issued by RIMS Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar highlighted the various aspects of using hindi in offices.
He said that the workshop was organised as per guidelines of the Official Language Implementation Committee (OLIC) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
Prof N Sanjib Singh acknowledged development seen in the recent years and expressed pride in the institute's adoption of Hindi as official language.
Principal, College of Nursing, RIMS, Imphal, HoDs, Officials and staff of RIMS, Imphal also took part in the workshop.
Meanwhile, RIMS Imphal has successfully conducted a trial delivery of medicines using drones from its campus as hub to CHC Khumbong on March 28, 2024.The trial drone flight was conducted in the presence of Prof G Sunil Kumar.

Notably, the trail drone flight was conducted under a pilot project initiated by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
In connection with the project, N Biteshowri, an ASHA worker of Khumbong CHC was trained for 2 weeks at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi, Gurgaon to assist the project.
The drone facility Was provided by Skye Air Mobility Private Limited which was hired through the Government of India tender system.
The drone can carry a weight of 5-10 kg according to the size of the drone.
The trail flight to Khumbong which is 13 km away from RIMS can be covered in approximately 7 minute.
