Imphal, November 19 2009: Three cadres of the KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman) directly involved in shooting proprietor of a cinema hall at Moirang last night have been apprehended by police commandos along with two pistols.

Proprietor of Janata Cinema located at Moirang Patlou, Konjengbam Jiten (38) s/o late Bira was assaulted by some unidentified persons at his Moirang Patlou residence by pumping two bullets on the right thigh at about 7.30 pm yesterday.

He is currently undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital.

Speaking to media persons this evening, Bishnupur SP Konsam Jayenta said that district police swung into action soon after learning the incident.

Three cadres of KCP-MC directly involved in the shooting were apprehended from Moirang and Phubala this morning.

The apprehended cadres have been identified as Angom Tomba alias Inaoton (27) s/o Ibocha of Moirang Khoiru Mayai Leikai, Angom Naocha (21) s/o Ibocha of the same locality and Khwairakpam Kapil alias Santosh alias Athouba alias Inaoba (19) s/o Joykumar of Phubala Mamang Leikai.

Two 9 mm pistols, two live rounds and one extortion note were recovered from their possession, said SP Jayenta.

All three of them were involved in extortion from Govt officials, businessmen and the general public of Bishnupur district as well as cases of abduction for ransom.

1, grenade attack at the residence of Moirang College Principal AK Sunder Singh, abduction of UCO Bishnupur branch manager Warjit Singh and shooting Janata Cinema hall proprietor Jiten were some of the activities in which the trio were involved, the SP said.

They were functioning under instruction of one KCP-MC (Lamyanba Khuman) leader identified as RK alias Momon of Ningthoukhong Khunou.

Tomba is a former cadre of the UNLF.

He came with Kapil yesterday and made the young boy to shoot Jiten.

Kapil is a talenated artist who won sixth position in a national level painting competition held in 2005.He was felicitated by the then President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, SP Jayenta said.
