Thoubal, August 28 2023: In continuation of their efforts to provide assistance to relief camps scattered across the State, the Thoubal Mayai Leirak Meira Paibi Lup in collaboration with the Anouba Mangal Youth Club, Thoubal Mayai Leirak distributed relief items to the inmates at Lamding Higher Secondary School relief camp today.

Speaking by the sideline of the relief initiative, an unnamed 'meira paibi' stated that people will never accept the attempt to turn Manipur into a battlefield and occupy the territories of the State.

She added that today's relief initiative had been taken up to assure the relief camp inmates that the people of Manipur stand with them.

It may be noted that the Thoubal Mayai Leirak Meira Paibi Lup and Anouba Mangal Youth Club, Thoubal Mayai Leirak had previously distributed essential commodities to the relief camps at Serou and Sugnu.

Separately, Diamond Donors Group (of Diamond TV Khongjom) has extended financial aid to the tune of Rs 12,000 to Laimaram Memcha Devi from Singjamei Wangma Bheigyabati Leikai who was injured in a confrontation with security forces in Singjamei.

Speaking in this connection, Diamond Donor Group founder James Heigrujam stated that Laimaram Memcha Devi was the leader of the nine mothers who demanded an audience with the Chief Minister and were stopped by security forces who fired tear gas shells at them.

During this confrontation, Memcha suffered burns below her waist and on her legs.

Notably, Diamond Donor Group has also donated a sum of Rs 3000 each to nine members of the Group whose houses were burnt down during the conflict.
