Rampaging Kuki militants pushed back

Imphal, October 05 2023:
Kuki militants carried out fresh gun attacks on Meitei village in the periphery of Imphal West and Kangpokpi district from Keithelmanbi area last night and early morning today.
Kuki militants, using sophisticated weapons, fired upon Moidangpok last night at around 9 from Keithelmanbi foothill crossing when the village volunteers were having dinner and burnt down stacks of firewood kept in the foothills.
Reportedly, village volunteers also retaliated by using license guns and pushed back the Kuki militants toward the hill before the arrival of security forces.
There was an exchange of fire between Kuki militants and security forces at Keithelmanbi village.
Rounds of 84 mm RL illumination were fired to assist the police in tracing the militants.
One illumination round was found unexploded at Moidangpok Khunou.
As per police, 84mm RL illumination ammunition is non-explosive and its only purpose is to provide light to search parties.
Kuki militants also fired several rounds using sophisticated weapons toward Meitei village from Keithelmanbi hill range today early in the morning and afternoon too and there was exchange of fire between Kuki militants and security forces which lasted for nearly an hour.
Combined team of State and Central security forces carried out a massive search operation in the area but there is no report of any arrest as of yet.
There is no report of any casualty during the gunfights.
