The Challengers' Youth of Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency (CYOKAC) has expressed strong objection against the demand raised by some groups/ individuals to impose President's Rule in Manipur and replace the Chief Minister at this critical situation.
Addressing a press conference today at Yumnam Khunou, CYOKAC convener James Leishangthem shared that it is clear to all that the present conflict is caused by armed Kuki groups who are against the policies and initiatives taken by the Government of Manipur led by CM N Biren Singh for the welfare of the people such as the War on Drugs mission, ban on poppy cultivation, eviction drives to protect the Reserve Forest & Protected Forest Area and attempt to implement NRC in the State.
He lamented that in this crucial juncture, some groups/ individuals with vested interest are trying to divert the people's movement by demanding President's Rule in Manipur and replacing the CM who has been trying to make the State better for the future generations.
"What will happen to village volunteers and youths who have been camping at various places especially in the periphery of the valley districts to defend their village and innocent public for the past five months if President's Rule in imposed in the State'', asked James while appealing to all concerned to stop inviting President's Rule in Manipur.
Appealing to the State Forces to not use excessive force against innocent civilians, he asserted that the public should also acknowledge the sacrifices and contributions of the State Forces towards the protection of Manipur's territorial integrity.
James further appealed to the public to provide their support to the Government of Manipur's effort to restore peace & normalcy and collect biometric data to track illegal immigrants in the State.
