Imphal, October 05 2023:
Reacting against the demand of some groups and individuals for resignation of the chief minister amid the crisis situation, Challenger's Youth of Khundrakpam (CYK) AC has appealed all concerned to stop criticising CM Biren as he is committed to build a peaceful future.
Such demand will eventually lead to the imposition of President's Rule in the state, CYC cautioned.
Addressing media persons at Yumnam Khunou community hall in the presence of village volunteers safeguarding their villages against attack by Kuki militants, CYK convenor James Leishangthem stated that the present crisis in the state is practically to oppose actions of the N Biren-government to eradicate poppy plantations from the state, arrest drug smugglers, process for implementation of NRC, eviction of encroachers from forest land, etc.
Owing to such far-sighted activities, elements inimical to Manipur and its people instigated the clash with the Meiteis.
He further informed that since the conflict is not over yet, it is not the right time to demand for removal of CM.
The agitation for the CM's removal could be launched after the end of the clash in the state as the demand for resignation of N Biren as CM will be akin to invitation for imposition of President's Rules in Manipur a condition which will not be possible for the village volunteers to protect and safeguard villages consequently making the Meiteis vulnerable to attacks from armed Kuki narco-terrorists.
Appealing all concerned not to indulge in petty politics and give up the notion for removal of the chief minister, James stated that the real voice of the people is the voice of those youths who are protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur in the peripheral areas against attack by armed Kuki militants.
All those present at the press conference also observed a 2-minute silence as a mark of respect to those who laid down their lives fighting against Kuki narco-terrorists for the sake of Manipur.
