Imphal, October 05 2023:
The Committee on Protection and Preservation of the Historical Rights of Koubru and Thangjing Hill Ranges (CPPKT) has questioned the Government's inaction on the desecration and occupation of Thangjing peak and Koubru peak, the abodes of Lord Thangjing and Lord Koubru respectively, by Kuki militants.
A press release issued by CPPKT asked how long the committee and the indigenous people of Manipur should wait for the State Government's response.
ZRA militants not only hoisted their flag but also installed Cross on Thangjing peak and converted a large section of the peak into a graveyard.
Thus the ZRA militants defiled the abode of Lord Thangjing.
Highlighting these highly provocative developments to all the people, the CPPKT, on September 13, asked the Government of Manipur to remove the ZRA flag and cross, and arrest all the culprits by September 17, 2023 .
A memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister on September 14 before an FIR was filed at Moirang police station on September 16.But the Government has taken up any action till date against the Kuki militants' vociferous act of sacrilege, the CPPKT decried.
It also warned that they are preparing for a massive movement against all such acts of sacrilege.
The statement shared that the Committee had received assurance from the Government 2/3 times that it will remove the offending objects from the pilgrimage site promptly, however no action has been taken up so far.
Thus CPPKT has questioned how much longer it should wait until the Government finally takes up concrete steps in this regard.
The Committee further cautioned that it is preparing to launch intense agitations in collaboration with the indigenous population.
