Kakching, October 05 2023:
Kakching Assembly Constituency MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar has asserted that different perspectives and rise of different political ideas has unfortunately caused discord between the numerous CSOs.
Speaking to the media during a press conference held at his residence at Kakching Makhalou today, Rameshwar shared that during their recent visit to the capital, the MLAs had received assurance from New Delhi that a peace process will be initiated very soon by bringing all the 60 MLAs of Manipur to the table.
Referring to the comparison frequently made between the Meitei and Kuki MLAs, the MLA pointed out that the demand for separate administration raised by the Kuki MLAs has not yet been granted.
Stating that the conflict will not be resolved until the separate administration demand is rescinded, MLA Rameshwar said that if continued segregation of the two communities in barring Meiteis from the hills and Kukis from the valley persists, then the situation will be akin to an 'unofficial separate administration' .
The MLA stressed on the importance of all stakeholders to come together and initiate a dialogue.
In the same vein, he reasoned that the different approaches to resolve the conflict employed by the various CSOs might take the people's movement in an unwanted direction.
Hence, he urged them to collect their thoughts, present a united front and decide which direction to take.
It is imperative for the people to unite despite the rumour-mongering aimed at causing disharmony among the people, he said.
Further, the MLA shared that within his own capacity, he has been meeting with Central leaders and trying to resolve the ongoing conflict and providing assistance to the village volunteers stationed at the peripheral areas.
