Imphal, October 07 2009: Even as troops of 31 Assam Rifles gunned down a suspected underground cadre at Border Pillar No 81, security forces nabbed five other cadres from different parts of the State in last two days.

Soldiers of 31 AR gunned down the suspected UG cadre at around 2 am today.

A press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) said that noticing some persons moving in the area suspiciously, the troops asked them to stop, but the UGs opened fire towards the troops.

The soldiers killed the UG cadre in the retaliatory firing, the press release said and added that one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, 10 live rounds of AK-47 and two Chinese hand grenades were recovered from the slain cadre.

The corpse alongwith the recovered items were handed over to Moreh police station.

In another incident, troops of 22 Grenadiers recovered one pressure activated IED from the general area of Tuivang on October 6 .

The explosive was 600 grams in weight, 6 inch in diameter and the same was disposed off at the site, said the AR press release.

Meanwhile, Imphal East district police commandos arrested two UNLF cadres from Khurai Lamlong Bazar yesterday, said a press release of Imphal East SP.

The cadres have been identified as Heikrujam Ibungo (30) s/o Ibobi of Taret Khul Thong Wangma and Sairem Rameshwar (29) s/o (L) Irabot of Lamboi Khul Awang Leikai.

In another incident, troops of 28 Assam Rifles apprehended a KYKL cadre today.

The cadre has been identified as Jeeten Singh (43) s/o (L) Chaoyaima of Singjamtak.

He has been handed over to Singjamei (Kakwa) police station.

In yet another incident, troops of 28 Assam Rifles nabbed one PULF (Azad) cadre from Lilong yesterday identified as Jiyauddin (29) s/o Sirajuddin of Kshetrigaon Awang Leikai.

He has been handed over to Lilong police station, said a press release of PRO Hqs IGAR (S).

Imphal West district police commandos also arrested one woman RPF activist from Alu Gali area yesterday.

The woman has been identified as Kshetrimayum (O) Ibeyaima alias Eche Meitei (47) w/o Indrajit of Bheigabati Leikai.

A press release of Imphal West SP said that on spot verification, Ibeyaima disclosed that she is working with one Laishram (O) Anit Devi (31) .

One Nokia mobile handset has been recovered from her possession.
