Highlighting the need for providing nutritious food to children, MP Thangso Baite has stated that free and compulsory education should be given to all children.
It was keeping this objective in view that the UPA Government enacted the National Food Security (NFS) Act recently.
The MP was speaking at the Parents' Day function of Chil Chil Asian Mission School, Kanglatongbi today.
Claiming that MGNREGS has succeeded in alleviating economic condition of the rural poor to a considerable extent, Thangso Baite called upon the gathering to ensure that all their children get nutritious food and go to school daily so that all of them become educated and competent citizens of the country.
"In case any family living in hill areas is unable to send their children to school, they may inform ADC Members, MLAs or me", Thangso said while pledging all possible assistance from his side.
He also assured that he would put in due efforts to make up shortages of the school's library, laboratory and equipment to the maximum level.
ADC Members Lunkhohen Haokip and Letmang Touthang were also present at the function.
