Imphal, October 03 2013:
A school principal is accused of physically assaulting a warden's wife.
Thadou Students Association-Sadar Hills (TSA-SH) said it condemned the act of the principal of Imphal Public Higher Secondary school, Canchipur for assaulting the wife of the school warden.
The woman was also a helper in the institute, said the TSA-SH.
The action of the principal on Haokholen assistant teacher cum warden and his wife Pichong is a total discrimination as well as an inhuman treatment, termed TSA-SH.
"After the personal statement taken from the victims it was learnt that he (Principal) even assaulted the warden's wife using a stick who is also a helper of the institution.
Subsequently, both of them were forced to leave the school without any prior notice on September 28 just after 17 days of working in the school," the TSA-SH alleged.
In this regard, TSA-SH has demanded some compensation to be given by the principal which includes the five months salaries to the victims as they were terminated without any valid reason.
Taking seriously the matter, the students' body said that the torture and harrasment meted out to the victims really reflected the deprivation of the rights of the minority community.
The physical assault of the warden's wife was a direct challenge to women and could be considered as a crime against the women.
It then kindly drew the attention of the concerned authority to book the accused and be given a befitting punishment in accordance to the law of the land, the students' body demanded.
"We would not remain a silent spectator until and unless the justice is not done in the right time," said TSA-SH.
He further states that such kind of issue is quite common in the context of Manipur.
"Therefore, the matter should be settled by any means so that it won't be happened again in the future.
And if the issue is not dealt properly the TSA would be compelled to initiate a strong movement in which the government will held all the responsibilities," said the TSA-SH.
