Bishnupur, August 19 2023:
Former Chief Secretary of Manipur, Oinam Nabakishore Singh asserted that one can consider that peace and normalcy has been restored in the State when the displaced people who are taking refuge in various relief camps are made to resettle at their respective native place without any fear.
Oinam Nabakishore made the above statement while extending relief materials including edible items, clothes, books and stationery items etc to Chingu Thangjing Guest House in Moirang Assembly Constituency where displaced people from different parts of the State are taking refuge at the moment.

The relief materials have been extended from the contributions made by 1984 Batch IAS Officers.
Reacting to the claims made by the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister that Manipur is returning to a state of peace and normalcy, Nabakishore maintained that restoration of peace and normalcy in strife-torn Manipur will be a tedious struggle since violence remains uncontrolled.
Citing the frequent gun attacks at the villages located at the foothills namely Torbung, Phougakchao Ikhai, Terakhongshangbi, Tronglaobi, Koutruk etc by the Kuki militants, he maintained that restoration of peace and normalcy is a far cry.
Considering the immense suffering of the innocent civilians who have been hit hard by the conflict which has been going on for more than three months, Nabakishore urged the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and Chief Minister to take up immediate measures either through peaceful dialogue or use of force to resolve the crisis in the State.
