Imphal, August 19 2023:
Reacting to a statement issued by World Kuki-Zo Intellectual Council (WKZIC) which accused the Manipur Naga Revolutionary Front (MNRF) of their involvement in the attack at Sipijang village, situated near Thawai Kuki village, Kamjong district in the wee hours of August 18, where three people were killed, the MNRF has strongly refuted the allegation of WKZIC as baseless, unfounded and unsubstantiated without any shred of evidence.
A press release signed by HS Shimray, Chief Information Secretary, MNRF, stated that it is highly unbecoming of an esteemed intellectual body like WKZIC to point its accusing fingers at MNRF.
"The MNRF is not involved in this communal conflict in any manner whatsoever.
The MNRF is deeply pained by the unfolding ethnic crisis in the State of Manipur.
The bond of blood relationship between the Meitei and the Tangkhul cannot be pulled in at all time for any kind of adventure.
At the same time, the old wounds of the Kuki-Naga conflict should not be opened unnecessarily", it added.
MNRF further conveyed that they have been praying for early reconciliation between the two communities.
