Committee to launch stir over suspension of Nongpok Sekmai PS OC

Imphal, August 19 2023: Khwairamband Ima Keithel Co-Ordinating Committee for Peace has cautioned of launching intense stir if government fails to revoke the suspension order of Nongpok Sekmai police station OC K Premkumar and four constables within six days.

Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, Committee convenor Puinabati Konsam said that womenfolk condemned the 'naked parading' incident that went viral on social media and even staged protests.

In connection with the incident, Nongpok Sekmai PS OC K Premkumar and four constables were suspended.

On the other hand, no action has been taken up against AR personnel despite their harsh actions on the womenfolk.

The May 4 the incident was committed by a mob.

So, suspension of the police officer and four constables is not acceptable, she asserted.

Puinabati further cautioned of launching intense stir if authorities fails to revoke the suspension order of the OC and the constables.
