Meet adopts resolution including demand for uniform law in Manipur

Manipur People's Club (MPC) and Meihum Morok Group on Saturday organised a public meeting on the theme 'Present Manipur Crisis' at Keishampat Thokchom Leikai community hall and adopt several resolutions.
The resolutions included implementation of NRC, reviewing of SoO with Kuki militants and demand for uniform law in Manipur.
Speaking at the meeting, Meetei Tribe Union secretary Mutum Churamani said that according to the British records, Kukis started infiltrating Manipur since 1841.The then IAS officer Thangthanphao Kipgen paved way for the dream of Zalengam.
"During 1947-49 when there were commotions in Manipur due to lack of leaders, Major General Amar Rawat Singh, who came to Manipur by colluding with Thangthanphao removed the posts of 300 Meetei intellectuals.
After the coming of electoral government; he (Thangthanphao) formed Kuki National Assembly to produce MLAs.
Later, heformed Kuki Inpi Organisation and became its president creating a foundation for them.
The meeting was attended by MPC advisor Salam Imocha, GP Women's College retired principal Haorokcham Rajen as presidium members while Sanaleipak daily editor Hemanta Ningomba as guest speaker.
