The Wangoo Naodakhong Awang Leikai Women's Welfare Association made an earnest appeal to the Chief Minister and the local MLA to continue the deployment of 2nd Mahar Regiment of the Indian Army, Kumbi Police and 129 CRPF Battalion in their village.
A press note jointly issued by the Chairman and Secretary of the Association lauded the joint and sincere efforts of the above security forces for the protection of villagers of Wangoo Naodakhong under the jurisdiction of Wangoo Naodakhong Gram Panchayat.
The press note maintained that the villagers are breathing a sigh of relief and feel protected now since the Kuki militants have stopped attacking the village owing to the efforts of the security forces.
Therefore the association sought the attention of the Chief Minister and the local MLA to keep the 2nd Mahar Regiment of the Indian Army, Kumbi Police and 129 CRPF Battalion in Wangoo Naodakhong in the interest of the villagers.
It may be noted that the village volunteers were safeguarding their village from the relentless attacks of the Kuki militants ever since the unfortunate communal violence erupted in the State on May 3 .
