Imphal, January 14 2024:
Asserting that Rahul Gandhi's visit to the State is aimed at disintegrating Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren has remarked that the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra which started from Khongjom today looks like 'Bharat Todo Yatra' .
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the 8th Armed Forces Veterans Day held at 1st MR banquet hall today, Biren maintained that the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra would not have any impact on Manipur.
Rahul Gandhi came to Manipur earlier and went back after fracturing the State.
He is visiting the State again when the fractures he created are healing, Biren said.
Biren then asked whether Rahul Gandhi's visit is aimed at fracturing the State again.
On being enquired by media persons about the Congress party's allegation that the State Government did not give permission for the launch of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Imphal (Hapta Kangjeibung), the Chief Minister said that the restriction is not limited to Congress party alone.
Considering the prevailing law and order situation of Imphal city, no one is given permission to hold any rally in the city, he said.
Given the prevailing situation of Manipur, it's not the time to hold rallies and engage in politics.
The situation demands protection of people's lives and their properties, Biren asserted.
On Congress leader Milind Deora switching sides to Shiv Sena, Biren said that politicians leaving Congress party will continue and many Congress leaders will join BJP in future.
