Bhogen, Premananda star as NAPSA clinch 20th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament title

NAPSA-Kha Imphal were crowned champions of the 20th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament with a 5 wicket final victory against YWC-Langthabal today at Langthabal Public Ground.
Put in to bat first, YWC-L amassed a commendable total of 180 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 30 overs but Premananda and Ratan produced briliant batting display to steer NAPSA to the target with 8 balls and five wickets left to spare.
YWC-L started their innings on a shaky note and opener Prakashmani saw five of his partners depart cheaply with Bhogen led bowling attack proving effective before Sasi came out at 7 to provide a steady partnership.

Prakashmani ended up gathering 41 runs off 35 deliveries and Sasi had the highest 58 off 53 deliveries before Ashakta and Ashokumar added identical 23 runs to lift YWC-L to a total of 180 runs.
NAPSA's Bhogen returned with the best figures of 4/19 in his spell of 6 overs while Simon returned with 2/34 in 6 overs.
Gopal and Johny also chipped in with a wicket apiece.
In reply, NAPSA too suffered stiff opposition early on and saw their openers fall cheaply.
Simon 23 and Bipin 22 however took NAPSA out from the precarious situation before Premananda and Ratan took on YWC-L bowlers with ease to seal the victory.
Premananda blazed 65 off 53 balls while Ratan scored 48 off 45 as the duo staged an unbeaten 6th wicket partnership.
Sasi claimed two wickets (2/29 in 6 overs) for YWC-L while Prakashmani and Priyokumar finished with a wicket apiece.
Premananda who hit an unbeaten 65 off 53 balls was adjudged man of the match.
NAPSA were feted with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and a trophy while runners up YWC-L received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a trophy.
Bedamohon of SHADOW was adjudged best bowler with 12 wickets in 5 matches to his name as T Bhogendra of NAPSA was adjudged best batsman and man of the series for scoring 213 runs and 12 wickets in 6 matches.
They were also feted at the occasion.
