Imphal, January 17 2022:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice president (administration) Kh Ratankumar has termed as very unfortunate that the media reported he left the Congress and is looking to join another political party.
Addressing a press meet held at Congress Bhawan here on Monday, Kh Ratankumar accepted that he had submitted a letter to the party president resigning from all the posts of MPCC, but it was an internal matter and he did not resign from the primary membership of the party.
"Miscommunication caused by the event is very unfortunate.
Please, do not make any speculation of me leaving the Congress and joining another political party," he stressed.
Ratankumar continued that he has held talks with AICC and CLP leaders along with party president.
His grievances have been heard including lack of recognition of his work for the party.
Now, all issues have been resolved, he said.
In another development, the appointment of Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh as MPCC working president has been approved with immediate effect.
In a release, All India Congress Committee general secretary K C Venugopal informed that the proposal has been approved by Congress president.
Meanwhile, MPCC working president K Meghachandra informed that the Congress party will apprise the Election Commission of India (ECI) for postponing the first phase of the assembly election to another day.
As per the ECI decision, election for the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly will be held in two phases on February 27 and March 3 with the first phase falling on Sunday.
As Sunday is a religious day for the Christian community of the state, the party will submit a letter to the ECI requesting rescheduling of the first phase of the polling date to another day, he informed.
Meghachandra mentioned that NPF has also asked for changing the date, while MPP has expressed its reservation on holding the election on February 27 .
He further continued that Pradesh Election Committee is holding meetings oh issuing party tickets and within two-three days the list will be sent to AICC.
After which, the names of the party candidates will be announced.
