Never collected money: YOM

Imphal, December 18 2023: The Youth of Manipur (YOM) has categorically asserted that it has never collected monetary donations from the public.

In fact, terms and conditions of YOM printed on their identity cards prohibit such collection of donations, said a statement issued by YOM today.

Responding to the query of how YOM executes its activities without the assistance of monetary donations, the statement explained that YOM has a strength of roughly 40,000 members and with a meagre contribution of Rs 10 per member, it can accumulate enough funds to help in uplifting three poverty-stricken individuals.

'YOM strongly believes that one can be a true patriot without collecting donations/money', the statement asserted.

Additionally, maintaining that 'Elections decide our future', YOM has urged the intending candidates of the upcoming Lok Sabha election 2024 to declare their candidature well in advance to give the voters ample time and opportunity to choose the right candidate.

This will also enable YOM to have interactive sessions with the public and the youth to discuss the matter, it added.

YOM further appealed to "honest and competent" intending candidates to also announce the measures they would undertake to resolve the ongoing Manipur crisis.
