4th MCA W Prahlada & W Ramananda Elite Tournament begins, REYS secure first win

The 4th MCA W Prahlada and W Ramananda Elite Tournament 2018 kicked off today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangsangbam in the presence of N Indrajit Singh, president, Manipur Veteran Cricket Association, Dr W Gopimohan Singh, Medical Superintendent, JNIMS, W Bhaktaraj Singh, retd Director, IAS, M Ranjana Devi, Member, Luwangsangbam GP, Heingang AC and Th Chaoba Singh, vice president Manipur Cricket Association as dignitaries.
The tournament is being organised under the aegis of Manipur Cricket Association in ODI format featuring 10 elite cricket teams of the State clubbed into two groups.
The opening match of the tournament saw Royal Eleven Youngsters Cricket Club (REYS), Nagamapal romped to a 6 wicket victory over FORCE Cricket Club, Kshetrigao.
FORCE who won the toss and elected to bat first fell down in front of fine bowlers of REYS.
They managed to pile up just 158 runs for 10 in 39.1 overs.
Parvez who struck 26 runs off 38 balls was the highest scorer for the Kshetrigao side.
Islaodin and Tashif Alam also added 19 runs and 18 runs in this inning while Sadam Qhurshid contributed 15 runs and 14 runs.
Nicholson of REYS picked 3 wickets in this inning while Jackiechan claimed 2.Jayanta, Rishikanta and Roberston also took one wicket each in this inning and played a big role in restricting FORCE to just 158 runs.
Jayanta who picked one wicket shone in the second innings hitting an outstanding 62 runs off 55 balls he faced and helped REYS reached the target in 30.4 overs for the loss of 4 wickets.
Guniram who stood on the crease till the last ball also struck an impressive 34 runs and kept the momentum intact.
Mintuchandra who smashed 24 runs off 37 balls also played a key role in the chase.
S Jayanta of REYS was adjudged man of this opening match.
Islaodin picked 2 wickets in this inning while Qhurshid and Kasim claimed one wicket each.
CYCLONE, Thangmei-band will take on Sangai Champion Cricket Club, Singjamei in a Group A league match.
