Imphal, February 14 2018:
Maximum Retail Price (MRP) is inclusive of GST and no extra money should be charged on any product in the name of GST, asserted Finance Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar.
Taking due note of the general perception that prices of goods have escalated since GST has been introduced, the Finance Minister today assured in the Manipur Legislative Assembly that he would check whether GST is responsible for the price escalation or cost prices have escalated.
Clarifying about delay in releasing funds for Central sponsored schemes, Joykumar said that there was some delay in the submission of utilisation certificates and it took some time in finalising the State's schedule of rates subsequent upon introduction of GST.
There would be no such delay from the next financial year.
Even though the Government did not receive any money from the Labour Cess in the past which should be utilised for implementing different welfare schemes for labourers/workers, the Government, after enquiry, was able to collect Rs 27.2 crore for the year 2015-17 and there is Rs 15.11 crore to be collected for 2016-17, Joykumar informed the House.
The State Government has been considering about lifting the ban on local liquor as well as Indian Made Foreign Liquor but it would be first deliberated in the public fora before taking a final decision, added the Deputy Chief Minister.
