Sagolband United emerge champions of Brig RS Sirohi Trophy

Sagolband United (SU) emerged champions of the Brig RS Sirohi Trophy on Saturday at Tumuyon Khullen village.
The valedictory program of the football tournament was graced by Naobi Sharma, ex-president of the Information Service TV (ISTV) Network as the chief guest and Robin Blacky, National Board Member, MSME, Govt of India and president, Southern Sporting Union (SSU) as the guest of honour respectively.
In his speech, Robin Blacky said it took a lot to organise such league tournament with lots of technical problems.
Sports, now, play a very big role in the society and is a career avenue unlike in the olden days, he said.

Manipur is considered as the powerhouse of sports in view of the achievements of the State's athletes in the National and international arenas, he noted.
Manipur has also been at the forefront in terms of producing football players in the country, he said.
So many players have been produced from the state where State players are present in almost all the leading football clubs in the country.
Further highlighting the carreer scope, he also called upon all youth present to refrain from any kind of intoxicants.
On the theme of the tournament which read-No room for communalism, he exhorted youth that peace and unity can be brought through games and sports and by socialising with one another.
Chief guest, Naobi Sharma also noted that games and sports is an effective means to preach unity and oneness.
The final match of the 14-tream tournament saw Sagolband United (SU) thumping Youth Organization Sporting Club (YOSC), Khurai 2-0 and walked away Rs 1.5 lakh richer.
YOSC, in the meantime settled for a cash prize of 80,000 .
Thanglalven (J No.7) of the HMT who scored 5 goals fetch the Golden Boot as Golden Ball went to Changwung Shimray of the YOSC and Golden glove to Rocky of the Sagolband United (SU).
Individual prizes carried a cash reward of Rs 5,000 each.
