Imphal, February 19 2023:
Rajkumar Rex Singh unleashed a devastating spell to steer PTRC (Patsoi Part IV) to an emphatic eight-wicket win over CRAU (Khamnam Bazar) in their MNCA Elite Tournament league match on Sunday at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
CRAU, who opted to bat first, were ripped apart by Rex Singh, who removed their opening pair in 11 balls before sending four other batters back to the pavilion in succession.
Hapless CRAU could only muster 55 after being bundled out in 16.1 overs.
Rex removed opener Dennis Khangenbam for a golden duck and then dismissed the latter's partner Johny Kh LBW for 11 before trapping Govind Ayekpam, Ronil Potshangbam (golden duck), Khangenbam Bimol Singh (golden duck) and Lamabam Ajay Singh LBW in succession for ducks.
Bishworjit Konthoujam also made his presence felt with the ball by taking two wickets while Gemson Mutum and Deepak chipped in with one each for PTRC.
Lamabam Jotin (19) was the only batter who got into double digits for CRAU in their dismal innings.
Chasing a paltry target, PTRC needed 10.4 overs to knock off the runs with eight wickets in hand.
Ngariyanbam Jonson Singh (25 not out) and Jotin Singh Pheiroijam (19 not out) remained unbeaten to guide their side to a comprehensive victory.
Rex (8) and Gemson Mutum (2) were other contributors in their run chase.
Both Rex and Gemson fell prey to Lamabam Ajay.
With his haul of six wickets and 8 runs, Rajkumar Rex earned the player of the match accolade.
