SFs recover drugs worth over Rs 8 crore

Imphal, February 19 2023:
Tengnoupal Battalion of IGAR (South) in a joint op eration with Manipur police foiled bid to smuggle narcotics in Tengnoupal district on Saturday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that based on specific input, a joint team of Assam Rifles and Manipur police launched operation and intercepted a vehicle near Chamol village in Tengnoupal.
On thorough checking of the ve hide, 3.710 kg of brown sugar worth Rs 7.42 crore packed in 88 soap cases was recovered from a well-schemed floor panel in the vehicle.
The seized narcotics have been handed over to Tengnoupal police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, Sajik Tampak Battalion of IGAR (South) recovered contraband items from general area Songkhom in Chandel district on Saturday.
Based on specific input regarding movement of contraband items, a mobile vehicle check post was established in general area Songkhom village in Chandel district.
During search and frisking operation at the mobile vehicle check post, one individual was found with 20 kg of opium worth 1 crore in international market.
The recovered items along with the smuggler have been handed over to Chakpi karong police station for further investigation.
