Bhusan Haobam, N Charmie advance into quarter finals; Neeraj Thokchom, L Bindiyarani and Y Agu crash out

Imphal, April 03 2018:
Manipur's Bhusan Haobam and Nongmeikapam Charmie were able to cruise into the last 8 rounds of boys' and girls' singles events in the ongoing U-14 AITA National Ranking Super Series organised by Imphal District Tennis Association (IDTA) under the supervision of All India Tennis Association at IDTA sports complex.
On the other hand, Neeraj Thokchom, Lamabam Bindyarani and Yumnam Agu failed to make into the next round following their defeats in today's matches.
Bhusan Haobam today defeated Anchit Gogoi by 2-1 sets to cruise into the boys' singles quarter finals.
Bhusan lost the first set before he staged a strong comeback in the following sets and wrapped up the game 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.Bhusan will face Krish Waghani in a quarter final clash.
Neeraj Thokchom went down 2-6, 1-6 to Krish Waghani to crash out of the tournament.
Earlier, Manan Nath outclassed Lalhruaizela 6-4, 6-1 while Arunava Mazumdar defeated Andy Thaosen 6-4, 6-2 to sail into the next round.
Nithisbaal Nalluswamy edged out Arya Bhattacharya 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 to move into the next round while Aaryan Qureshi overwhelmed Dhananjay Athreya 6-2, 6-2 to find his place in the last 8 round.
In the next match, Tamoghna also outlasted Das Pranav Heggere 6-4, 6-4 and in the last match, Obrien Wyatt Row defeated Joshua Johi 6-3, 6-2 .
In girls' singles, Manipur's N Charmie edged out Anya Jacob 0-6, 6-1, 6-0 to set up quarter final match with Veda Raju Prapurna who beat Riyah Dugar 6-3, 6-3 in the pre quarter final round.
In other matches, Y Agu crashed out of the super series with a 0-6, 0-6 loss to Manna Mekhala while L Bindiyarani went down 2-6, 2-6 to Taru Sai Joshi in the last 16 rounds staged today.
In other matches, Tishya Khandewa got a walk over as M Anjan failed to show up while Anoushka Singh overwhelmed Durganshi 6-3, 6-3 to advance into the last 8 rounds.
In the next match, Pabitra Parikh defeated Sohini Sanj Mohanty 6-3, 7-5 while Pari Singh easily defeated Charlotte Liu 6-1, 6-0 to make into the last 8 rounds.
In boys' doubles, the Manipur pair of Bhusan Haobam and Rahul Pamei outclassed Krish and Aaryan 6-3, 6-4 to set up quarter final clash with Arya Bhattacharya and Bhicky Shagolshem who beat Manan and Jigshyaman 6-4, 6-4 .
Arunava Mazumdar and Wyatt Obrien defeated the Manipuri duo, Neeraj Thockchom and Ashwajit Senjam 6-0, 6-2 to make their place into the quarter finals while Rathi and Anchit Gogoi enjoyed a bye.
In the next match, Mohit Reddy and Karthik Vaddepalli beat the pair of Heishnam Shankar and Lalhruaizela JH by 6-1, 6-3 points to make into quarter finals while Athreya and Pranav also notched up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Pratham-Siddhant to cruise into the last 8 round of the competition.
The pair of Samar Malhotra and Krishang Raghuvanshi also moved into next second round beating Stevan Ekka and Paras Lukram 6-1, 6-1 and will meet the pair of Joshua Eapen and Andy Thaosen who beat Kavin Karthik and Baalaji Nalluswamy 6-3, 6-0 in the quarter final clash.
In the girls' doubles events, Yumnam Agu and N Charmie of Manipur edged out Nemha Sara and Bindiyari 5-6, 6-4, 12-10 to cruise into last 8 rounds.
