Police arrest five suspects on kidnapping drivers , suo moto case registered against Zillai

The Churachandpur police, last night, pulled up five suspects in connection with the kidnapping of two drivers for ransom, taking the total suspects taken into custody to six, even as they registered a suo-moto case against leaders of Zillai GHQ for imposing total shutdown last Saturday.
Sources said that the police today produced five suspects it pulled up last night, before the CJM and secured their custody for 14 days.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Nehminlen alias Joseph (26) of Phoipi village (presently staying at K Mongjang village, CCpur); Lamkholal alias Prem (36) of D Vaison (presently staying at New Boljang); Chonminlal Manlun (37) of Songjang village, PS Saikul; Nemneilam Haokip (40) , Chief of Mongkom village, CCpur; and Hatneikim Haokip (35) of Hengjang village, CCpur.
One Jangkho-on (56) of V Lhangvom village was already taken into police custody a few days back.
Meanwhile, Churachandpur police have reportedly registered a suo-moto case against the functionaries of Zillai GHQ on several counts for imposing bandh on March 31 while demanding the safe release of the kidnapped duo.
A case under section 143/147/149/506/283/34 IPC was reportedly filed on April 1 this year.
It was a bold posture of the Government in cracking the whip against bandh impostors for Churachandpur.
The ZSF then appealed the authority concerned to withdraw the case against Zillai saying that their move was intended to eradicate the district of social ills and was backed by innumerable CSOs.
