Assns for 'complete repair' of Ukhrul road

The ongoing restoration work of NH-102(A) from Dungrei junction to Kharasom junction, Ukhrul, a stretch of around5 kms, executed by Bhartia Infra Projects Limited (BIPL) under NHIDCL is yet to complete although the work started last year.
Though major portions of the road have been repaired at least another 1 km stretch of the road is yet to be repaired.
A joint press release issued by the respective chairman of different organisations namely Zingtun Longphang, Ato Longphang, Zingsho Longphang and Aze Longphang stated that a TNL monitoring team has set an ultimatum to complete the construction within 10 days from today and urged the State Government for immediate intervention to speed up the construction work.

The TNL monitoring team will resort to various action if the work is not completed within the stipulated time, it warned while adding that the work agency concerned will be held responsible if any untoward incident occurs.
Meanwhile, another press release issued by the Chairman of Awungtang Ngachonmi Fund Organisation has appealed the State Government to expedite the highway renovation work before the Shirui Lily festival.
It stated that the 300-500 metres road stretch is in a pathetic condition and further urged for immediate intervention from the authority concerned.
A senior engineer of NHIDCL who was present at the work site informed the correspondent of The Sangai Express that black topping of the road will take another 7 days, from Awongtang onwards.
A labourer engaged in black topping the road stretch at Awontang said that the work was stopped for 2/3 days and then resumed again on April 1 .
