Govt committed to equal development in State: Biswajit

The present Government is committed to equal development of the hills and the valley, said Works Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh while attending a Luita Phanit celebration at Somdal Village in Ukhrul district, today.
The Minister who is also the spokesperson of the Government said that only trust and understanding will bring peace, which will eventually lead to development of the State.
He said his visit to the village is part of the Government's initiative under the 'Go to the Hills' slogan, aiming to reduce the gap between the hills and the valley.
Stating that improvement of connectivity is also crucial to development, Biswajit gave assurance that the quality of the road will be improved.

Replying to the appeals made by local organisations through memorandums submitted to him today, the Minister said that improvement of Tolloi Junction to Somdal road, Shiroi Ring road and Ngaimu Junction to Tuinem road has been included in the work programme and work will be initiated at the earliest.
The Minister who also holds the Power portfolio said the Government is also committed to provide quality 'power supply in the State.
He also assured setting up of a 33/11 kV Power Sub-station for Somdal which will begin at the earliest.
Highlighting the Government schemes including the SAUBHAGYA, UJALA, UJWALA, Beti Bachao Beti Padao, PMAY (G), MEETAC, etc, the Minister also instructed the concerned DC to erect hoardings to educate the public on the provisions of the different schemes.
The inaugural function was also attended by Dr Harmit Singh Pahuja, Somdal Village Authority Chairman Pamrei Ruivah among others.
Other highlights of the day include songs and dance performances by cultural troupes.
Later in the day the Minister inspected the Shirui Festival venue at Shiroi Hills, Ukhrul.
The Minister speaking to media persons said that the inspection is to oversee the preparation which is underway ahead of the Shiroi Festival to be held from April 24 to 26.He said that he wanted to inspect the arrangement for public convenience including parking facility, condition of approach road and other necessities.
