Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam Singh has stated that children must be encouraged to dream and express their ideas into action and taught to think outside the box, solve problems with innovative solutions and increase their curiosity and improve thinking power as well.
The Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the felicitation function of the Award Winning Audio and Video Programmes in the 22nd All India Children's Educational Audio Video Festival and ICT Mela-2018, Bhopal, organized by the Directorate of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) at the Multipurpose Hall, SCERT.
The AICEAVF and ICT Mela-2018 programme was held under CIET, NCERT, New Delhi.
Pointing out that the society needs innovators and achievers, the Minister pointed out that the problem today is that the children have stopped dreaming unlike the children of the previous generations.
Congratulating the staff of SCERT on their achievement, Radheshyam said that currently, there is high advancement in the field of technology and the children must be taught to become experimental and inventive instead of pushing them to score high marks in examinations.
He suggested that the children should be encouraged on how to think and be innovative as part of the programmes taken up by the SCERT.
Dilip Mayengbam, Station Director, AIR Imphal, said that in order to make the transmission of the Educational Broadcast Programme successful, every school must have a radio unit to tune in to the programme.
He said that broadcasting the programme was a challenge which was overcome through providing proper training to the teachers.
He further stated that the programme gained popularity after the inclusion of prominent personalities of the State.
Mention maybe made that SCERT, Manipur won three awards for the Best Editing (Audio), 2018 for the programme titled 'Taramanga Suba Chahi Chagi Puwari' (Audio Programme), Best Audio Programme (Teachers), 2018 for the programme titled 'Ahongba Sinmi' (Audio Programme) and Best Video Programme (Teachers), 2018 for 'The Head Teacher' (Video Programme) in the 22nd AICEAVF and ICT Mela-2018 .
All India Children's Educational Audio Video Festival (AICEAVF) is one of the major children's educational audio-video programme festivals of India, organised by Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), NCERT, Delhi.
The event is organized to promote creative expression amongst educational media professionals, teacher educators, teachers and students, and was originally started by CIET and State Institute of Educational Technology (SIETs) .
As the best audio, video, new media and ICT products are showcased, discussed, recognized, appreciated and awarded, such events contribute in longer run towards enhancing learning of the children.
The function was attended by the SCERT Director, Dr M Meenakumari, renowned artists and officials of the Department.
