In a keenly contested match, SSC-B Sekta overcame a fighting YUC Yaingangpokpi by the odd goal in three in the Chalou Cup today.
Playing a free and flowing game SSS-B Sekta drew first blood as early as the 10th minute of the when S Bishorjit was well positioned to take a good shot at the goal which disturbed the net of YUC.
The early goal did not deter the YUC players and they went about with a purpose in their game to find the equaliser and started launching attacks from either side of the flanks.
The relentless attacks yielded dividends, when K Abungcha received a precise pass from the flank and after side stepping a couple of defenders sent the home rocketing into the far right of the net in the 39th minute.
The equaliser put more vim in the game of YUC and throwing caution to the wind, they went all out leaving gaping holes in their defence line.
It was against the run of play, when the SSC-B Sekta players, latched onto the ball in the midfield and after a some short crisp passing amongst them found S Bishworjit at the top of the penalty box, who made no mistake in slotting it home in the 41st minute and seal the match.
In the second match of the day, YDCL, riding on a brace from H Poireiton and another one from W Malemnganba managed to down ELC Nongada by a margin of 3 goals to two.
For ELC, Th Abuncha and L Jiten scored.
