Imphal, February 23 2014 :
Shija Smile Cleft Project has successfully accomplished its 19th mission by successfully correcting cleft lips and palates of 23 patients at Oking Hospital, Nagaland.
So far 3500 people with cleft lips and palates belonging to Manipur, Nagaland, Barak Valley of Assam and Myanmar have been corrected by Shija Smile Train Cleft Project.
The figure includes 202 patients from Nagaland, said Shija Hospital and Research Institute managing director Dr Kh Palin.
A larger camp is being planned together with Nagaland Government, Oking Hospital and SSA in April this year.
One Renthungo Patton (35) from Wokha district, Nagaland was among the 23 patients who underwent surgical operations for correction of cleft lips and palates on February 20-21 .

Because of his cleft lip and palate, Renthungo Patton could not receive formal education.
He even decided to remain a bachelor for the whole life.
But after his deformities were corrected, a new hope suddenly sprang up and he went home saying that he would enter wedlock.
Shija Hospital launched its Smile Train Cleft Project in Nagaland in 2007 .
Smile Train India is now asking Shija Hospital to launch the same project in Mizoram and Tripura too, said Dr Palin.
After Nagaland, another camp would be organised at Monywa, Myanmar during which 200 children with cleft lips and palates are likely to undergo corrective surgery.
The camp is being organised by the Mandalay based India Consulate General and the Government of Myanmar.
Notably, 103 Myanmarese children with cleft lips and palates underwent corrective surgery in another camp held last year.
