12th Shaheed Manoranjan Memorial CRPF Football : Christopher nets hattrick as SU blank AFC 5-0 to book quarter final berth

Sagolband United (SU) rode on a hattrick by Christopher in the dying minutes to knock 10-man AFC Thoubal out 5-0 in a pre-quarter final clash of the 12th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial CRPF Football Tournament today.
The day also saw KSC, Kangpokpi and YUFC secure clean sheets to complete the quarter-final line up of the tournament being underway at SAI turf under the aegis of 143 Bn CRPF.
In the first pre-quarter final match of the tournament staged this morning from 9.05 am, KSC sealed a slender 1-0 win over SSU, Singjamei to set up a quarter final clash with NACO, Nambul Mapal.
The lone goal that earned KSC the quarter final ticket was scored by H Robinson Khongsai in the 38th minute of the match.

SSU toiled hard to come to level terms in the second half but their efforts went in vain and rather ended up receiving three yellow cards.
In the second pre-quarter final clash of the day, YUFC, Ukhrul scored a goal each either side of the break to beat RAU, Lairikyengbam Leikai 2-0 and set up a quarter final clash with ESU, Wangkhei.
With Rungsing Muinao scoring in the 20th minute, the Ukhrul team were 1-0 ahead till the break and Julian Keishing hit the decisive goal in the 71st minute as RAU, who saw off NISA 1-0 in the previous tie failed to convert any of their chances throughout the game.
In the last pre-quarter encounter of the tournament, SU ran riot against the AFC defence to notch up a convincing 5-0 victory.
SU were on the attacking mode from the word go but AFC held their citadel intact until Ch Anandkumar broke through and slotted home the opener in the 29th minute.
Paokhongam then scored a freak goal the very next minute and eventually SU headed into the break with a 2-0 advantage.
SU, took their feet off the pedal for a while after the changeover before Christopher took charge of the onslaught in the dying minutes and opened his account in the 88th minute before banging in two more goals deep into the stoppage time (90+2',90+5') to complete his hattrick and the 5-0 rout.
Kh Oken, who was yellow carded first in the 39th minute was sent off following a serious foul during the stoppage time reducing AFC to 10-man. Jan 20 matches (QF)
