Forced elopment case: Bail application of accused rejected

Imphal, January 17 2022:
Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West rejected the bail applications of the prime accused and his associates in the alleged kidnapping and forced elopement of a JNU research scholar on December 12 last year and remanded into judicial custody till January 31 .
The prime accused RK Master (34) s/o RK Sanajaoba of Mayang Imphal Konchak, his associates Amom Soman (40) s/o Amom Ibungo of the same locality and Ningthemcha Ningol Landhoni w/o Moirangthem Mohen of Mayang Imphal Konchak Mamang Leikai was produced before the Court by a team of Singjamei Police after the completion of five days police custody remand.
On the other hand defense counsel of the accused persons filed a remand objection along with a request for bail.
Court after hearing the submission of APP of the State and defense counsels in length and on perusal of the case record rejected the bail application of accused persons and remanded them into judicial custody.
It may be noted that the three accused were on interim anticipatory bail till December 31 in connection with the case and after the hearing of anticipatory bail application on December 31 Sessions Judge Imphal West rejected their bail application on January 7, 2022 .
It is also worth mentioning that the victim lodged a complaint at Singjamei police station wherein it was stated that she was called out from her house by the accused Rajkumar Master on the pretext of having lunch on December 12 last year and later forcefully confined her with the help of Amom Soman and Ningthemcha ningol Landhoni.
During the confinement, she was subjected with rape threats and even threatened that they will perform 'Keinya Katpa' (forced marriage) against her will.
