Iconic Events Week underway

Imphal, January 17 2022:
In connection with the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, Manipur Tourism Department has launched the observance of Iconic Events Week with the inaugural function held at Lywangpokpa Multi Sports Complex, Luwangshangbam on Monday.
The inaugural function was attended by chief secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar as chief guest, Tourism commissioner PK Jha as president and Tourism director W Ibohal as guest of honour.
Speaking at the function, Dr Rajesh Kumar highlighted that the government has been taking up several initiatives for development of the tourism sector in the state.
The government has been holding parleys with Asian Development Bank so as to avail funds for developing tourism infrastructure and generate employment for the youth of the state, he added.
While assuring that Loktak Lake will be developed in the right earnest, Dr Rajesh Kumar said that the government has been trying ceaselessly for making the INA a tourist destination.
Cooperation and support of the people is vital in enhancing the tourism sector of the state, he stressed.
