Imphal, February 19 2014:
It was an entertaining day on the first day of the 1st Womens' Open Futsal Cup as the four teams which played two matches were evenly matched in almost every department of the game.
It was the finishing skills of the two winners which decided the outcome of the two matches ultimately.
The first match of the day, between MPSC-B and NYTHC got off to a roaring start with Th Debjani of NYTHC finding the net from the top of the penalty box as early as the 3rd minute of the match.
The early goal spurred the NYTHC players and they went out for the kill pumping in two quick goals through Ksh Ngoubi in the 4th minute and M Bjita in the 7th minute.
The three goal lead however did not deter the MPSC-B players as they came out full throttle to breach the citadel of NYTHC on a number of occasions.
In the true spirit of the game, the police players did not give in and ultimate managed to reduce the margin when a well placed Sh Shanti found the space and time to slot home the ball in the 9th minute.
Bolstered by the goal, MPSC -B played with a purpose and after launching a series of attacks from either side of the flank managed to net the ball again in the 12th minute through S Bungshera.
The 12th minute goal however came a little bit too late as the NYTHC players managed to keep their citadel intact and carve out a narrow 3-2 win.
The second match of the day between MSC-A and ESU-B was a goal fest with ten goals.
MPSC-A opened the floodgates as early as the 1st minute of the match through NG Bala and she followed this up with goals in the 3rd, 17th and 35th minute.
O Bembem also chipped in with two goals in the 16th and 18th minute.
ESU-B however did not lag behind as they also went on a goal scoring spree with Kh Surbala finding the net in the 15th minute, I Premeshori in the 21st minute and Th Umabati in the 30th and 36th minute.
These however were not enough as MPSC-A came out winners by 6-4 .
