Imphal, February 19 2014:
Kuki Chiefs' Association, Khangbarol block, has threatened to boycott the ensuing LS poll if the State Govt fails to make the Khangbarol TD Block office which was inaugurated two years before by none other than the State Chief Minister fully functional before the Election Code of Conduct comes into effect.
Even more than two years after Chief Minister O Ibobi inaugurated the Khangbarol TD Block office and staff quarters in Chandel district, no staff and officer are appointed yet.
CM O Ibobi had inaugurated the TD Block office and staff quarters at Khangbarol on Nov 12, 2011 after bifurcating the TD Block from Khengjoy TD Block.
Speaking to reporters during a tour of the area today, Chairman of the Kuki Chiefs' Association, Khangbarol block, Thangmang Haokip said that despite several appeals to make the Khangbarol BDO functional, nothing tangible has come up even more than two years after the office was inaugurated by none other than the State Chief Minister.
Thangmang said the KCA would boycott the coming Parliamentary election if the BDO office is not made fully functional before the poll code comes into effect.
Khengjoi Block KSO secretary, Janglal Haokip said the students' body would also endorse the boycott if no positive steps have been taken towards setting up of educational institution in the block.
The Kuki bodies also expressed strong resentment over the non-fulfilment of the CM's promise to upgrade Khangbarol PHSC into a PHC which he promised two years back.
