Pallel bandh threatened

The Aimol Students' Union Manipur (ASUM) today warned of enforcing a 24-hr general strike at Pallel Bazaar with effect from midnight of Feb 28, if the concerned authority fails to act positively to the demand for eviction and expansion of the Aimol-Kangoi Road from Pallel within 2 pm of Feb 28 .
Speaking to media persons, Ch Sote Aimol, President of Aimol Students' Union said that, as the Aimol-Kangoi Road has become narrow and too congested for traffic from Pallel Bazaar.
The Students' Union is working tirelessly for eviction and expansion of the road since the last 4-5 years.
It even approached the local MLA, Director of Settlement & Land Records, DC Thoubal and SDO Kakching for eviction and expansion of the said road.
However, the concerned authorities have turned a deaf ear to the genuine demand of the Union and remained silent till date, he lamented.
He further appealed to all the civil and student organisations of Pallel area to cooperate while enforcing general strike.
