Manipur had a mixed day in the 11th National Women Boxing Championship as three pugilists advanced to to semifinals while a same number suffered defeat against their respective rivals in the quarter finals.
In the 51kg class, L Sarita devi notched up an easy 12-0 win over Riju Moni Pator of Meghalaya to move into the semis.
In the semifinals, Sarita will take on Suman of Haryana.
The two other boxers who assured the State of atleast a medal are E Memthoi (69 kg) and L Sangita (81 kg) .
The losing quarter finalists from manipur include Soni Chanu (54 kg), H chaoba (57) and L Rezia (60 kg) .
In other bouts, Vanlal Duati of Tripura outclassed Krishna Thappa of Madhya Pradesh 4-0 to storm into the semifinals of the 48kg category on Wednesday.
Duati and Thappa were the defending champions in the 48kg and 46kg category respectively.
Duati kept her opponent at bay and landed punches to accumulate points en route to the last four stage.
In the 54kg category, Preeti Mehra of Punjab defeated an off-colour Lal Buat Saihi of Mizoram 2-0 .
The talented Mizoram pugilist could not repeat her yesterday's performance, where she beat Asian Bronze medallist Priyanka Chaudary of Uttaranchal.
Meanwhile, in the 57kg category, Pavithra of Haryana defeated Uttarakhand's Jyothi Bora 11-0 to move into the semis, where she will meet Kamala Bist of All India Police.
In an evenly contested bout, National champion Aruna Misha kept her reputation intake to outpunch Prathibha Jakhar of Chandigarh 8-6 .
