Master athlete Memcha feted

Staffs of District Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Thoubal today organised a felicitation function in honour of A Memcha, who won five medals in the recently concluded 34th National Masters Athletic Championships held at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore in Karnataka from 27th June to 1st July, 2013 .
Conservation Officer Laishram Upendra and other staffs of the District Horticulture and Soil Conservation encouraged the athlete who collected 3 gold and 2 silver medals along with simple gifts during the function held at the office of District Horticulture and Soil Conservation.
In the championship, which was jointly organised by Masters Athletic Association of India and Athletic Association of Karnataka, Memcha topped in three events namely triple jump, 200 meter race and 1X100 meter race.
In the 4X400 meter relay and long jump events she won a silver medal each.
Around 3500 athletes from 20 Indian states participated in the championship and team members of Indian to participate in the forthcoming World Masters Athletic Championships would be selected from this national championship.
