Imphal, July 08 2013:
The women vendors of Ema Panthoibi Sana Keithel participated in the protest held at Sana Konung today decrying the decision of the State Cabinet to take over the Sana Konung for developing it into a historical monument.
Speaking to mediapersons on the sideline of the protest demonstration, General Secretary of Ema Panthoibi Sana Keithel Khomdram Joymati said that the decision of the State Government is against the aspirations of the people and they would continue to protest unless the Government revokes its decision on Sana Konung.
She further appealed to the authorities concerned to respect the customary head of the state and ensure the provisions under Merger Agreement which was signed between Manipur and India in 1949 .
The women of Manipur are prepared to face any eventuality if the Government moves on to take over the Palace by using force, Joymati warned.
