Modern College Golden jubilee

A month-long golden jubilee celebration of Modern College was inaugurated today in the Multipurpose Hall of the college, Porompat here.
The inaugural function of the golden jubilee programme was attended by MLA Y Irabot Singh and Dr K Biren Singh, Principal of Modern College as the chief guest and functional president respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, MLA Y Irabot said that there are 42,000 adult infected with HIV/AIDS in the State.
He said that the State was in order until people with bad antecedent are elected as representatives of the people.
Newspapers front pages are filled with news of rapes and crimes against women since not too distant past, he said while also observing that many people have lost ethic in their quest to amass personal wealth.
Noting the frequent import-export of drugs from the State, Irabot said the real owners of the drugs seized in the State could not be identified due to the involvement of higher-ups.
He also pointed out that the SIU, formed on May 6, 2012, was disbanded on Feb 11, 2013 .
Besides building tall buildings, many drug smugglers turned to politics.
The number of HIV/AIDS positive people increased manifold when these people occupied the power corridors, he said.
Principal of Modern College, Dr K Biren Singh said the month-long Golden Jubilee celebration would be marked by Inter-College Song Competition, tree plantation, blood donation camp, inter-College debating competition, inter-college quiz competition and would culminate with the 50th Foundation Day celebration on August 8 on the college premises.
