NH Mishap:: Handyman dies, driver hurt in mishap

Imphal, July 08 2013:
A handyman of an oil tanker lost his life while the driver survived with injuries when it fell into a deep gorge at Zakhama in Nagaland along NH 2 yesterday.
The deceased handyman has been identified as Kangabam Hemchandra alias Irabot (19), s/o K Tomba of Waithou and injured driver as Sunder (46) of Phumlou.
Sunder is being treated at Kohima Hospital.
According to reports received by Hueiyen Lanpao, the incident took place when the oil tanker (MN01/4292), along with other loaded trucks, was on its way back to Imphal along NH 2.When they reached Zakhama, the oil tanker in which driver Sunder and handyman Hemchandra were travelling all of sudden fell into a gorge around 200 feet deep.
Hemchandra died on the spot while Sunder was rushed to Kohima hospital immediately.
The body of the deceased handyman was brought to Imphal in an ambulance which was incidentally heading towards Imphal by the members of Kohima Driver Union and All Manipur Road Transport and Drivers' and Motor Workers' Union after the post mortem conducted at the mortuary of Kohima Hospital today.
