Oldest Monsang man dies at 102

Monsang community has claimed its leader Upa Kiirii Ngamer Monsang, who died at his extra -stretched age of 102 on Saturday, to be the oldest man of all communities in Chandel district.
Ngamner, who breathed his last at his native Monsang pantha village, was the former chief of the area, said Ng Benithan, president of Monsang Tribe Union, Manipur (MTUM) .
Born in 1911, three year before the first World War broke out, Ngamner was one of the Monsang leaders, who had contributed lots to the community during his life time.
His timely demise gave a remarkable episode in the history of Monsang community as oldest man in Monsang and even in among other communities in Chandel district, Benithan said.
The Monsang people greatly honored him on his funeral and condolence service held at his residence under the aegis of MTUM or 'Sirti Upa Ruh' today.
